feb, 24th - hummingbird....

day 748:

on the first day in Hong Kong, my sister took me off to an cupcake icing lesson......i loved it....i'm going to be growing seedlings next and longing for a veg patch.....but hey, i'm not fighting it......it's surprisingly soothing and satisfying making buttercream flowers....and reminds me of my gran who was a fantastic wedding cake decorator.

i still need to work on my actual cupcakes though, especially when Limi will be comparing them to Hummingbird Bakery and their incredible red velvet cupcakes.

so.......be prepared for plenty of deliveries of my attempts as i try and hone my skills.....

feb, 23rd - pancakes and duck tonight....

day 747:

Limi and i have headed to Hong Kong for two weeks to visit my sister.....hence the quietness around here. i've been recovering from a solo flight with a two year old....not because Limi was a nightmare, in fact she was a dream, she fell alseep on take off and woke up two hours before landing but i didn't sleep one tiny bit? does anyone else find their child being surrounded by 300 strangers keeps them from sleep? plus she has a tendency to fling herself around and i have to be on alert to play catch-the-Limi before she flings herself right off the seats.

i love Hong Kong and i find it unbelievably inspiring and photogenic so hopefully i'll have plenty to share.

in the meantime here is my new favourite home (via Many at 16House).......

feb, 19th - lunch at the nurseries....

day 743:

a really good friend was in town from Oz over the weekend and since some of us will not be able to make her wedding in March, we had a group hen lunch at the favourite, Petersham Nurseries {see days 603 & 621}.

we were in the restaurant dining room and enjoyed their fantastic hospitality (great bowls of spaghetti for the kids before we ate) and an incredible menu focused on the produce (as you would expect).

it's a stunning dining-room, with beautiful detail and lends itself wonderfully to a rambling lunch. which meant that we were there long after the other diners had left.....

feb, 16th - love....

day 740:

for the last couple of years, we've decided on a decadent lunch on our anniversary.....it's felt more luxurious somehow to sneak off just the two of us and later on we meet up with Limi to have some family celebration time. it's becoming a ritual that i really love. 

last year we enjoyed The Ledbury {see day 375} and this year, we tried Hibiscus.

beautiful food and even better when you emerge to London sunshine.

feb, 13th - revisiting the barges....

day 737:

awhile back i did a a shoot for a friend who's a brilliant boat builder / timber craftsman {see day 268}....i was editing some of the pics this week and it made me long for Summer, sunshine and sails........

feb, 12th - turning two....

day 736:

Limi has been reliving her party since Sunday. we've sung 'Happy Birthday' at least nine times today......

the party was great fun....the gingerbread house (that reminds me more of a shanty house) was a hit with the kids and the 'forest' of trees withstood about thirty minutes of bashing before it looked like the woodcutters had been in......

gingerbread men decorating was a success.....a big success.....it seems that alternating sprinkling sugar decorations and eating handfuls, makes for good party entertainment....

when i asked Limi what food she wanted at her party she said: sausages, wibble wobble jelly and cupcakes (oh and chicken noodles...which was never going to happen).....

and finally once everyone had left, Limi and i had a chance to sit in her house and relive the day before it went off to be 'recycled'. a great day.
