apr, 8th - food and open sky....

day 425:

we have had the most glorious blue skies in London this week....seriously, the type of weather that reminds you what it's like to whistle as you head off to work. and then, an added plus, we're off to Cape Town next week....so i'm dreaming of outside, sunshine, friends, good food and sea air. flicking through The Selby today (a blog that needs no introduction) the latest shoot is on an incredible open-air restaurant in Tulum, Mexico called Hartwood.....even though i'm off to my-first-love-Cape-Town.....i suddenly want to reroute and go to this restaurant....now! ........please!

so, anyway it reminded me of an incredible open-air restaurant that we went to on our babymoon (i was 6 months pregnant). it is in South Africa, up the west coast and called Muisbosskerm. there's something wonderful about fresh fish and seafood eaten on bare wooden tables, with sand beneath your feet.....

freshly grilled anchovy snacks with your beer pre-lunch (pity i don't eat anchovies without the rest of the pizza or drink beer)

our food cooked on open coals and the clay-oven baking tins....

fresh, crunchy crayfish and silky angelfish lovingly splattered with butter-paint.....
and finally, milky tea, fresh bread and homemade apricot jam.....

looking at these pics brings back very happy memories.....and gives me an urge to lick my lemon-butter fingers.........i can't wait to go home.
