nov, 7th - richmond park....

day 615:

Autumn is taking itself seriously this year.....everywhere you look, leaves are trying to outdo each other in terms of vibrancy. over the weekend we went to an urban beekeeping chat (more about that later this week) and on the way home, we drove through Richmond Park.

Richmond Park has to be once of the most beautiful city parks in the world......especially in Autumn and especially when the deer are reaching their capacity.

truly magical.

something else that is truly magical is this.

sep, 16th - serpentine pavilion....

day 574:

this year's Serpentine Gallery Pavilion is by Swiss architect, Peter Zumthor. I hadn't had a chance to visit it and so glad that I did before the Summer ends. It's a beautifully serene space that reminds me of a fragrant monk's cloister. The concept for this year is hortus conclusus which literally translates as enclosed garden and the architect calls it a 'garden within a garden'.

Every year, the Serpentine Gallery, in the centre of Hyde Park in London, commissions an architect to create a temporary pavilion cafe on their lawns for the Summer. The criteria is that the architect or design team should not have completed a building in England at the time of the Gallery's invitation.

This is pavilion's 11th year and definitely one of my favourites. The simplicity and Asian aesthetic of building combining with the European garden flourishing in the centre and the contemplative space in between, feels perfectly pitched for the mood in 2011.

It would have been interesting to see the garden by Dutch designer, Piet Oudolf, at the beginning of the Summer when it was still green and thinking about its' potential. I really like it now, in it's blowsy and slightly faded state.

mar, 26th - bicycles....

day 413:

we managed to drag ourselves away from our sick beds and make the most of the weekend and....so was the rest of London....on their bikes. whether they had rented a Boris Bike (nicknamed after our London Mayor)....or shined the leather on their seat and handles.....bicycles were out in force this weekend.

we made it back to Maltby Street {see days 400, 401 and 403}...more about that later in the week...yes, we're addicted (i blame Louise and Nivaldo) and also into the parks. East London is definitely the peddle-heart of the retro bike with leather accents and wicker baskets....

beautiful stitching, supple leather, shiny chrome and clean wicker......bicycle spotting was definitely easy on the eye this weekend.

do you think that it's too soon to get Limi a tricycle?

i had a Limi free outing today, to use a spa voucher that i was given before she was born!! it was at a spa in town so i hopped on a red London bus and rediscovered the top deck.....it hasn't existed much for me lately....buggies are quite restrictive in the way....

took some snaps as we were bobbing down Bayswater Road....love the nostalgia of these pics. makes me think of Hyde Park 100 years ago....
