Claya: crunching acorns underfoot.....happiest when she has plenty of space to roam....

oct, 13th - 41/52....

we spent a week in Portugal recently (more of our trip on the blog soon).....

Claya: this was the week that she stopped crawling for good and walked Everywhere!

Limi: our last day at the beach was wet and windy and we got caught by a surprise wave.....despite Limi's face in this pic....she was slightly damp but so, so happy

i've missed a few of these lately whilst working on une belle époque but i've still been following all the amazing portraits on Jodi's feed here.

these two, are actually from my Instagram feed but they so clearly sum up what both girls are like at the moment......

Claya: determined to do things for herself.....like feed herself yoghurt.....

Limi: the first day back at school for the year. she loves school and her friends

day 1296 / 395:

Limi and Claya: sitting in their dress-up trunk....

they already have such an interesting sibling bond.....so close and sometimes too close when they push away a little to get their freedom. i couldn't have asked for Limi to handle the arrival of a baby sister any better.....she's shown so little jealousy and mainly been incredibly caring and thoughtful from the start. for our part, we try hard never to pitch them against each other.....never to say 'act more like your sister'......i hope that they can grow up to be best friends and always understand how special their relationship is.

aug, 18th - 33/52....

day 1284 / 385:

i can't believe it's been almost a month since i lasted posted......i was focusing on Claya's first birthday and the launch of our company (more about that soon)....and there just didn't seem to be any time to do this space justice......but now.....i'm keen to give this space a revamp and some new energy....thanks for still stopping by.

Limi: we've had such an amazing Summer in London and so much of it spent in parks. this pic sums it up for me.....struggling to keep clothes on Limi, glorious sunshine, bubbles, water, water bombs.....these two girls seem to have squeezed every last drop of sunshine out of this Summer.

Claya: she's so proud of standing....she's practising her steps but still prefers to crawl....(i think standing is just for the applause and whoops that she gets)

day 1248 / 347:

Claya: this is the result of letting her loose with a watering can and some soil......the rest of her was almost as bad....but she loved every second (those red knees are from the small stones just outside the doors of the new house. they are the bane of our lives. if Claya isn't trying to eat them then she's trying to crawl across them and ends up with these sore looking knees.....but gets extremely cross if you don't let her explore on her own)

Limi: Summer holidays mean crazy, long days of mad playing and one exhausted looking child in the evenings. she is loving every second.

day 1241 / 340:

Claya: loves dress-up but is not a fan of the crown....i'm guessing that she didn't want to play the part of the prince, on his steed, in this game

Limi: okay, this is not technically just a portrait of Limi but very much sums up the fact that she is a real nurturer and loves babies and playing pretend babies. in fact she keeps asking me whether we can get eight!! more Clayas. also, this is my godson, Gray, at one day old. any excuse to show him off!

Limi: hot, bothered and telling me that her watermelon slice was too heavy!?!

Claya: fascinated by her reflection. this image was followed by mad giggling at her reflection (but those pics were all a blur!)

the 52 project: a portrait of the girls once a week, every week, in 2013

1207 / 306:

Limi: for this split second, i can almost see the teenager that she will grow into....this is her favourite place to be in The House.....perched on the windowsill in the kitchen.

Claya: these hands and feet are forever moving.....the jersey is a hand-me-down from Claya's godmother {see day 634} (i'm pretty thrilled that she's having a boy next and we're inheriting all these beautiful pieces)

jun, 2nd - 22/52......

1200 / 299:

Claya: she adores her big sister but also has a feisty side that will be interesting when she gains the same level of mobility and strength. hopefully they will still find each other as hilarious as they do now. i had put some music on and she was doing her own dance moves

Limi: twirling to make her baby sister laugh. the plaster is for aesthetic reasons.....she Loves plasters and generally has one or two on at any given time

i also included the outtakes below. they make me smile whenever i look at them. now that Claya is slightly older, it's almost tangible how their relationship is changing and they are becoming this little clique of their own......i love it.

may, 26th - 21/52....

'a portrait of the girls, once a week, every week in 2013'

day 1193 / 292:

Claya: she is turn-your-back-and-she's-across-the-room fast and also pulling herself up on all the furniture, trying to climb the stairs, climbing onto the coffee table and getting very frustrated that she can't get herself up onto the couch.....we are doing intensive 'this-is-how-you-climb-down-again' training (below, is a bonus pic of tiny feet that are now more and more, flat on the ground)

Limi: she has a cold so i invoked the tv-on-the-ipad treat. the girls still don't watch any tv (Limi only occasionally watches a film or some episodes on my ipad). sometimes, we wonder whether we are doing the right thing (who knows...maybe it will come back to bite us).....but we agree that it actually forces us to get creative when we play with the girls and Limi will play for hours by herself.

these are two portraits from our trip to Italy a few weeks ago.....

Limi: eating the real deal.....with her 'splash boots' on the wrong feet of course......

Claya: still doing her gecko impression....rubbing her tongue along her teething gums...

apr, 28th - 17/52....

we've been in Italy all week which is why things have been so quiet around here. but....it's back to regular posting this week. thanks so much for still visiting and leaving your comments.

apr, 16th - 15/52....

day 1154 / 253:

Limi: baking together is a mixed-bag....i love the idea of separating eggs and stirring batter together but the reality is that after about three minutes it all becomes about what she can eat, lick, stick her fingers in and it then becomes a race against those fingers until i can give her the bowl to lick.....

Claya: she really is the happiest, most chilled out baby with huge smiles and laughing snorts...until she's not.......and then she catches us by surprise by suddenly giving us the saddest eyes and the biggest drop lip....

apr, 9th - 14/52....

"a portrait of the girls, once a week, every week in 2013"

day 1147 / 246:

Limi: she loves imaginative play....most evenings we have to make food for a collection of her soft toys friends, she rides her horse aeroplane/ car/ buggy to far-flung places like South Africa, Thailand, Australia and she still has her own thunderhooves in her tummy (although since she's been introduced to the concept of twins, there are now two thunderhoovesies in her tummy).

Claya: she has mastered sitting, rolling, growing teeth, blowing impressive raspberries, gecko impressions, a high-pitched squeal and even going from lying to sitting and back again.......but she's getting very frustrated that crawling is still evading her. it's more of a tummy squiggle at the moment although i think that proper crawling is not far away......

some 52 portraits that caught my eye last week - electronette and little buckles .... i always want to spend more time perusing the links at ché and fidel.....but the next week seems to steam around before i get a chance.

Claya: she was more keen to eat the bunny mask than wear it.....

Limi: the mask was just getting in the way of eating the Easter egg that they were given at ballet.....

Claya: she's learnt to play peek-a-boo and is so chuffed with herself.
