nov, 18th - snap snap....

day 1008 / 107:

two new toys arrived for the girls last week.....(i might be trying to brainwash their future interests). little sapling make the type of wooden toys that i have searched high and low to find: simple, handmade, amazing quality and hopefully something that will last a lifetime. ordering them from the states was a bit of a pain (please find a European stockist LS) but worth the effort.

the teether is one piece of hard rock maple which the company has educated me is: naturally anti-bacterial, non-allergenic and non-toxic. i also found some other shapes that i would love to buy for friends: tooth, bat, bird, aeroplane. the digital camera is just as clever. it's made from solid wood (maple and walnut) and finished with jojoba oil and beeswax. the lens moves to 'focus' and Limi loves to 'show me the pic' on the screen. an added plus is that for every toy sold, they plant a tree through Trees for the Future.

this feels like a bad sponsorship post....which it's not.....i just like this company and the fact that they are obviously thinking about what they are doing.

hope that you had a brilliant weekend. x

apr, 6th - ice-cream afternoons....

day 424:

it was the most gorgeous day in London......so i came home, threw on some sandals and Limi and i headed out for ice-cream. our neighbourhood cafe has at last reopened (hooray!) {see day 203}......proper pics of that soon.....

so down we wandered, grabbed a seat outside and with Limi perched on the table.....one spoon each and a small tab of vanilla ice-cream to share, we watched the world go by....Cherry tree blossoms showered the passing cars and the people headed home with beautiful sunny smiles.

what a good day for ice-cream.

ps. yikes.....teething....five teeth popped out ages ago and the rest are just toying with us......they seem to be arranging a mass appearance......
anyway, we're trying an amber necklace to ease the pain....well, and also cold ice-cream on those swollen gums......

oct, 26th - d day....

......and gained a second tooth, next to the first.

oct, 13th - first tooth....

day 244:

voila! after waiting and waiting and waiting......and expecting rashes, red cheeks, ear pulling and yelping cries of pain.......without *much* todo, the first tooth has broken through!!!

of course it's one small victory (and i'm told that it can even disappear again....no, no, no!) but at last, we have one lower middle tooth (on the left) that is definitely just through the gum. it was hard to tell because after months of limi not being able to get enough of munch on our fingers, knuckles, hands.....we suddenly can't get them past her very pursed lips.

but before we throw the bonjela in the bin (actually, we're using herbal teething powder but there's no alliteration there...), we have 19 more baby teeth to go.....20 teething teeth....20! all 20 should apparently come through by the time Limi is 3 so that means about 1 tooth every 1.5 months for the next 27 months. let's hope that the rest have learnt from this first one.

jul, 2nd - disaster....

day 140:

oh dear....

we lost Squeak yesterday (real name Sophie...but with so many Sophie's around we renamed our version Squeak so that we could tell the difference :) This rubber (from a rubber tree) giraffe is VERY popular with the teething set in London. We have ordered a Squeak II but in the meantime, Limi is eyeing up all the Sophies in the park. Good thing that she can't crawl or she'd be off with someone else's...

jun, 28th - hot, hot, hot....

day 137:

it's hot, hot, hot here at the moment!

limi had her first bottle of plain water today (although....i may learn from my sister and call plain water 'juice' instead, so that when other kids are having REAL juice she will also be having 'juice'....let's see how long we can fool her for!)

she also munched her gums on an ice cube wrapped in a muslin cloth. great for cooling and her teething gums they say. she just looked startled but mightily please at how cold her cloth was! we're still trying hard not to gather too much limi-related stuff and gaudy gadgetry. but i may consider getting something like this mesh feeder if the hot weather lingers.
