nov, 7th - richmond park....

day 615:

Autumn is taking itself seriously this year.....everywhere you look, leaves are trying to outdo each other in terms of vibrancy. over the weekend we went to an urban beekeeping chat (more about that later this week) and on the way home, we drove through Richmond Park.

Richmond Park has to be once of the most beautiful city parks in the world......especially in Autumn and especially when the deer are reaching their capacity.

truly magical.

something else that is truly magical is this.

nov, 7th - wapping project....

day 268:

our sunday was filled with a small bit of work, some boats, a couple of cocktails, incredible views of iconic Tower Bridge and Autumn sunshine peeking through the clouds.

a friend is a boat builder/ amazing timber craftsman who has recently been working for some barge-houseboat clients. i went off to shoot his work for a new website. what an incredible spot and community.

situated on the River Thames with an uninterrupted view of Tower Bridge (now that's something to wake up to every day), these barges have been turned into modern, stylish and super funky homes.....i love the contrast between the industrial, masculine exteriors and

cosy, sleek interiors.

after that, we headed to lunch at The Wapping Project. this restaurant come gallery is an old favourite and i so wish that it was closer to us.....i would move to East London just to be closer to it. set in an old Hydraulic Power Station it has my favourite distressed, industrial walls and remnants of it's original purpose everywhere.

the food was amazing as always (i didn't have the whole tiny fish above ...those are A.'s kitten-breath -speciality)

Limi was there in her nautical stripes (with a few polka dots thrown it) but the general consensus was that she looked more like a vintage aviator/rugby player! and um....not necessarily in a good way......so sorry honey-bee for dressing you oddly today.

beautiful Sunday.

oct, 29th - autumn outfits.....

day 260:

i love Autumn and Winter outfits....so many opportunities to layer. i was going to do a 'autumn outfit' post today but then realised that nearly everything that Limi has on was a gift. (thank you amazing friends and family!)......so it wouldn't be much of a post:

dress - gift
undershirt and leggings - gift
rattle (chook chook) - gift from friends in Oz

in fact the only thing i can tell you something about, is the hat which we pilfered from A.'s cupboard....and so it begins...the borrowing from dad's cupboard!

hopefully she'll wait awhile before chopping up his jeans to make baggy, hippy shorts.....what can say, i was an art student and it was the grunge era!

oct, 24th - our morning walk....

day 255:

since our neighbourhood coffee shop is still closed (see day 203), we have to walk a little further to get our morning coffee.....

what a beautiful Autumn morning,

leaves turning,

weak sunshine trickling through,

touches of natural art everywhere you look,

and one small 8 month old who is already making style decisions....
insisting that her beanie be worn more like a beret.

oct, 9th - falling leaves....

day 239:

i grew up in a small town, north of Durban in South Africa. it's sugar-cane country, with rolling hills and dense bush along the coastline. the weather is hot, hot and steamy....so...when i moved to Cape Town during my university years, i was enthralled by the changing of the seasons. Autumn/Winter at home had been limited to putting on a cardigan over your summer clothes.

down in Cape Town, we had leaves turning, storms brewing, winds howling. i could wear scarves, gloves and hats....hooray! even though i'm not crazy about the short days.....i still love everything else about the colder months. it makes you appreciate the renewal in Spring that much more. [although....i haven't turned my back completely on the Tropics...forget a last meal....i would ask for a last late afternoon, warm, Tropical thunderstorm instead.]

i don't expect....that i'll ever stop wanting to do all the seasonal things that i never got to do when i was young: kick leaves wearing welling boots, wear mittens, lie in the snow and make snow angels....and now i get to do them all with Limi. and for her very first Autumn...our closest park is putting on a brilliant display.

who needs brightly coloured toys when you have brightly coloured leaves....

....................

while we're on things i love.....i love a bit of randomness....and this linen dress by birdiehandmade, spied on Etsy (day 121), is a perfect example of gorgeous randomness

all in the details.....
