day 236:

8 months old today! so...the 8 month round-up....

Dimensions & Weight:

Lenth - 72 cm (that's a whole 5cm growth since the 6 month update - day 175)

Foot Length - 11 cm

Hand Length - 8.5 cm

Ear Length - 5 cm 

(whoohoo...at last some ear growth. 0.5 cm since day 175)

Hair - growing...still...but not enough to keep her warm in Winter.

Weight - 8.4kgs

Likes -

• crawling...at speed (day 222)
• pulling herself up to standing
• wholewheat toast!
• blowing rasberries....still

• swimming....still
• bubbles (day 229)
• clapping and clapping and clapping

• playing peek-a-boo..guaranteed to make her belly-laugh (day 217)
• balloons (day 234)
• saying bababababa and mamamama but no dadadada

• tropical fruits especially paw paw (papaya) and mango

• violent forms of affection...hair pulling, nose grabbing, nail raking, eye poking.....still
• wrestling with The Monk

Dislikes -

• any protein...can your 8 month old decide to become vegetarian?
• lumps in her food
• sleeping in!
• not being able to stand without holding on....very frustrating
• keeping a hat on

aug, 6th - 6 months....

day 175:

6 months old today! so...the 6 month round-up....

Dimensions & Weight:

Lenth - 67cms 
(now requires two people to measure a very wriggly baby...bring on the standing-against-a-wall-with-a-ruler years)

Foot Length - 9.8cms (no change)

Hand Length - 8cms (no change) 

Ear Length - 4.5cms 

(which hasn't changed in 4 months now..so just goes to show that ears don't grow very fast)

Hair - growing...yay!!! still strawberry blonde.

Weight - still haven't weighed her...but you know, she looks healthy.

This Month's Likes & Dislikes:

Likes -

• scooting around on the floor without actually crawling
• rolling and rolling and rolling....still
• playing in the park with her yoga-buddies (day 159)

• sitting...with some dramatic face-planting....(soft surfaces still critical)
• swimming and especially splashing (day 161)
• sleeping with her hands behind her head....sunbathing style

• soprano singing....very, very...very high pitched...still
• blowing rasberries....still
• bouncing...boing...boing....boing in her door bouncer (day 168)
• eating toes...still
• her cousins sheika and ethan...they make her belly-laugh

• saying mamamaamamamamammmmmamam...now to brainwash her with dada too
• unusual pureed food combinations....pomegranate + plum + guava or spinach+ parsnip + basil or melon + avocado...and alfresco dining

• violent forms of affection...hair pulling, nose grabbing, nail raking, eye poking.....still
• grass between the fingers

Dislikes -

• baby porridge (day 164)
• peas
• loud sneezes
• not being able to crawl....very frustrating
• the italian baby formula equivalent...not quite the same

p.s. since this is the big half a year....i will also post a parent-progress-report when i get back to london next week.

limi's impressive drop lip. she's definitely learning quickly how to work the crowd.

Weight - not sure...tried to weigh her on the home scale and the cooking scale but couldn't get either to work properly...alas, will have to take her in to the doctors!*

Likes -

• blowing rasberries....both giving and receiving
• eating toes...and trying for a whole foot

• rolling onto her side
• being read to....we've started Winnie-the-Pooh reading hour (okay...reading 15 minutes)
• crazy kicking legs and waving arms

• baths...with some impressive, crazy-kicking-legs-and-waving-arms splashing these days
• full-on pouting (brand new thing in the last two days)

Dislikes -

• sleeping in.....time that could be spent toe eating
• wearing socks....hinders toe eating
• wearing baby-gros with feet.....hinders toe eating
• sitting in the bumbo....hinders toe eating
• sitting in the bouncing chair...hinders toe eating

* i weighed her on day 120 and she is now 5.90kgs....which is between 25 & 50% on the baby percentile graph....so perfectly normal.yay!
